Why employers do not always use newspapers/ JCP job points etc. to advertise their vacancies…
Employers have reported that it is expensive to advertise their vacancies in newspapers and, due to more people now looking for work, they receive many more responses over a larger geographical area. Many of these responses are speculative and do not match the skills required by the employer. This is an expensive way to recruit staff as it takes time to sift applications and many of these may not even be looked at. Economic growth is expected to be slower than anticipated and employers will need to quickly and easily find staff who have the skills they require. Applicants for positions will be more interested in opportunities to work for local employers as this reduces their transport costs and journey times.
